Jason Maiden
Integrative Counsellor Adv. Dip. Int. Counselling MBACP
Hi, my name is Jason. I practice as an Integrative Counsellor. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I work in person from a garden room (coming soon) in South Street, Bridport and from Crewkerne Small Business Centre, Unit 2E, Cropmead Industrial Estate, Cropmead, Crewkerne, TA18 7HQ
I also work online (using Doxy.me).
I offer a free 15-minute online chat (via Doxy.me) or phone call with absolutely no obligation to work together if you don't feel we're a good fit.
Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £42.
If you decide to come for an initial session there would be no obligation to continue counselling with me after that if you did not wish to do so.
People seek counselling for a wide range of things. My work often involves supporting people with depression, stress, life changes, relationships, self-worth, self-exploration, and identity.
My special interests include, but are not limited to, working with loss and grief, and depression.
Drawing from my training and personal interest in existential therapy and philosophy, sometimes our work could be to help explore the big questions of life - what is your purpose? What gives your life meaning? What makes it all worth it? The big and bold questions can be exciting to explore together.
In previous careers, I have worked with horses (as a groom, rider, and coachman) and more recently in the funeral profession. My interests also include people who work in these fields.
I have experience of working with autistic people. I am an LGBTQIA+ ally.
Ultimately, and, I think, most importantly, I am interested in the human experience and being with people; we will listen with each other to each other.
I offer a supportive, non-judgemental space to help you explore whatever it is you are going through. The focus of the session is on you. I adapt my approach around you and your needs, goals, hopes and exceptions, whatever they may be.
How does someone know when they have done their own personal therapy in depth?
"They live with increased sense of internal peace. A willingness to probably manage anything. They come away a sense with that no matter how good or bad a situation, I can learn and grow from the experience – and they do that with a sense of peace." - Richard Erskine (2023)
My integrative approach is built on the view that counselling is a collaborative process; it is a conversation that makes a difference beyond the space in which it occurs.
When we meet, I do not meet an issue, a problem, or a diagnosis; I meet a human being. I work to create a feeling of safety so that you can feel and express your internal experience. I specialise in listening calmly and deeply to what is said and what is not said. Through discussion and exploration, I work with you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
The therapeutic approaches that influence my work the most are the Person Centred Approach, Gestalt Therapy, and Existential Therapy.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or to arrange an initial appointment.
